- Sales before VAT: the order value divided by 1 plus VAT.
- Profit before ads: sales before VAT, less products, shipping, the payment fee and other costs.
- Break-even ROAS: the order value divided by the profit before ads. Ad platforms report sales as the customer paid them, VAT included, so the comparison is on the same basis.
- ROAS for your target: the same, after setting the target profit aside.
- This month’s profit: orders times the profit before ads, less the ad spend. Fixed costs such as rent or software are not included.
Questions about ROAS and profit
What is ROAS?
Return On Ad Spend: the sales your ads brought, divided by what you spent on them. A ROAS of 3 means ₪3 in sales for every ₪1 of ads.
What is a good ROAS?
There is no single number. It depends on what each order leaves you: a store with a high profit per order profits even at a low ROAS, and one with a thin profit needs a high ROAS. That is what this calculator is for.
Why does Facebook’s ROAS not match my store?
Each platform counts sales by its own clicks and views, and several platforms can count the same order. A real ROAS is worked out from the store’s own orders.
